What is pregnancy massage?

Pregnancy massage is gentle, supportive massage adapted to your changing body. You lie on your side, supported by pillows, and the pressure and techniques are adjusted for each stage of pregnancy.

Why people book it

Expecting mums come to us for:

  • Lower back and hip aches
  • Neck and shoulder tension, especially at a desk
  • Tight, tired legs
  • Trouble getting comfortable or sleeping
  • An hour to rest and be looked after

The real cost: you

Pregnancy is meant to be special. But when you're sore, tired and counting the hours until you can lie down, it's hard to enjoy.

These months don't come back. Take an hour for you. Live alive. Live you.

How our therapists work

Before your first massage, we ask about your pregnancy and health. If you have complications such as high blood pressure, bleeding or a high-risk pregnancy, we may ask you to check with your midwife, obstetrician or GP first.

Then you're settled on your side with support pillows, and your therapist works gently on the areas that are aching, adjusting everything for your stage of pregnancy.

Try this right now

Lie on your side with a pillow between your knees and another under your bump. Does your lower back or hip ease a little?

That's the position we'll use for your massage, with proper support, so you can actually relax.

What happens in a session

We go through your pregnancy, your health and where you're aching. You'll be side-lying with support pillows for the whole session.

What your session will include

Here's what to expect:

  • A short pregnancy and health check
  • Comfortable side-lying positioning with support pillows
  • Gentle massage for your back, hips, legs, neck and shoulders
  • Pressure adjusted to your stage of pregnancy
  • Simple tips for sleeping and sitting comfortably
  • Health fund claim on the spot with HICAPS, if you're eligible

Our promise to you

We won't promise a particular result. We promise gentle, careful hands, a safe and comfortable position, and working alongside your midwife, GP or obstetrician.

Frequently asked questions

Is pregnancy massage safe?

For most people with an uncomplicated pregnancy, gentle massage from a qualified therapist is considered low risk. We check your health first and may ask you to talk to your midwife or doctor if needed.

Which trimesters can I book?

All three trimesters, right up until your baby arrives.

How will I be positioned?

On your side, supported by pregnancy pillows, so you and your baby are comfortable.

Can I claim massage on my health fund?

Many private health funds cover remedial massage under extras. We have HICAPS, so you can claim on the spot if you're eligible. Your rebate depends on your fund and level of cover.

How much does a massage cost?

New clients pay $85 for a 45-minute first massage when booking online. A 90-minute first session is $150. See our pricing page for returning client prices.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly online or by phone.

Can I get an appointment today?

Check our online booking for the next available time, or call (08) 9201 0566. Michelle is often booked about two weeks ahead, so book early if you'd like her.

Can I see a chiropractor and a massage therapist?

Yes. Our massage therapists work alongside our chiropractors, so your care can be joined up. Many clients see both.
